Fundacion Brethren y Unida (FBU)
The FBU is a non-profit NGO that works in various areas of development, formulation of rural development projects, technical training of agro ecology, environmental education, local management and volunteer work. Established in 1953, that initiated work in various diverse parts of rural Ecuador . It is an institution that works on rural development projects together with rural communities. It's projects are orientated toward production improvement with an agroecological focus, the protection of micro valleys and forests, and environmental education. The volunteer programs promote cultural exchange between people from diverse countries with those of rural communities in Ecuador. To enable this exchange have designed several flexible opportunities that adapt to meet the distinct objectives of volunteers, from organic agriculture to rural teaching, whilst maintaining an emphasis on personal contact with families from the farming communities where.
Street Children Organizations
This foundation has been working in Ecuador for the past 30 years. The work concentrates on developing marginal urban areas in Quito . The work with children aged 2 to 17, providing various programs which specifically address their needs. One strong aspect of the foundation is its use of the Montessori model, encouraging a natural development process in children. With that in mind, the centers have very little formal education structure, but instead offer many different experimental stations where the children are free to learn at their own pace.
Cenit
CENIT, El Centro de la Niña Trabajadora, or the Center for the Working Girl, is a non-governmental, non-profit organization devoted to helping working children (especially working girls) and their families overcome grinding poverty and improve their quality of lives through education and job training, nutrition programs, health and social services, psychological help and recreation. CENIT relies heavily on the help of volunteers in almost all aspects of our programs. Volunteer opportunities are varied, and range from working in our street outreach program to teaching CENIT mothers jewelry making to helping with fundraising or administrative work. There are tasks for all interests and capabilities, and your involvement in our work here promises to be a rewarding and unforgettable experience.
Golondrinas Foundation
The Golondrinas Foundation is dedicated to the conservation of natural resources, conservation of cloud forest, recuperation of eroded soils, and environmental education in the lower Rio Mira valley between the provinces of Imbabura and Carchi. The volunteer program’s main objective is that applicants understand the socio-economical and ecological problems in the zone of influence of the project in the Lower Rio Mira Valley, proposing the application of sustainable agricultural alternatives to be able to improve the standard of living for the local people in the short, medium and long term.
