Hi,

I am having a hard time getting a definite answer from a couple of places in Machala where I would like to stay during my trip there in August. Any suggestions for a mid-priced hotel, hosteria, posada or apartamento for a 4 or 5 night stay in or near Machala?

There will be two adults travelling with two kids. Also - if I can't get a place reserved ahead of time, what are the chances of still being able to find a place mid week in mid August?

Is that a particularly busy time in the Machala area?

I stayed at Oro Verde Hotel when I went to Machala
I'm not sure if you would consider it mid-rpiced, I thought it was darn cheap - $125 for a double including taxes more or less. It's in the middle of Machala, walking distance from the major sights, breakfast included. I stayed with my toddler son in one room, my parents in another - I'm not sure if they have adjoining rooms or something convenient if your kids or older. August is vacation time in Ecuador, but at least all the folks in Quito head out to the beach, so I guess your primary competition would be other foriegn tourists?....
