Will be travelling with two children from Quito to Otavalo to Otavalo to Cuenca. Any recommendations? Public transport is usually not a problem, but with kids.....?! Also want to take the train from Riobamba towards Cuenca, and finally fly back to Quito. Am I being unrealistic?
Thanks for the help!

Hi there!
I just visited Otavalo and can really recomend the nearby village Peguche. Right now They´re celebrating Inti raimi which is a crazy but super fun fiesta, and the people there is really friendly! I don´t know about you, but I always prefere the smaler places, otavalo is nice, but of cours much more turistic. Even if you´re not staying there, there is a nice waterfall just 15 minutes away. Busses between Otavalo and Quito are frecuent, as always in Ecuador it´s a bit short of space for youre legs, and some times very crowded.
Cuenca is also a great city. I loved it, one of the most beautifull cities in South america! I´m pretty sure there is no train there though. the rails are washed out by land slides...ther still is a working train between Riobamba and alausí ( it also go to el nariz del diablo and then return to alausi) but it´s maily a tourist attraction! it´s much faster and cheper with bus.
Well, Good luck with everything! |
