The train to Cuenca has not been operating for several years (we have made this trip three times in the last two years; it's great fun and beautiful scenery, but you must be VERY flexible...) Usually groups get off at Alausi, I think, and are bussed to Cuenca. The last time we were there, the train ran only between Riobamba and Bucay, then we took the bus on from there. Flooding and rains had damaged the tracks in the lowlands, and it didn't sound as if they would be fixed anytime soon. Don't know what tour company you are going with, but I'd double check.
Have a great trip. |
