I'm looking for a good place to surf and learn Spanish. I went to Puerto Escondido last summer, but wanted to try somewhere new.

I'm a beginner surfer, and I really *do* need to learn some Spanish for work. Any suggestions? I know Manta has a school, but will I actually get to surf there?

A friend said all he saw was kite surfing. And although I'd like to learn Spanish, a big incentive was to be able to surf again, too...

Hi,
I was at Manta for May. There is good beginner surf off the point and beach right in Manta from Oct to May. June to Sept it dies down and is pretty flat. Then there is los Pinas about 20 minutes away - where there is surf all year round.
I organised my trip thru Study Spanish and Surf who have a school there. They were also talking about opening a sschool in Montanita (about 3 hours south?) I went there one weekend and the surf was very good. You may be able to transfer between both schools

The school in Manta was very good, reasonably priced and all one on one private classes. Manta itself isnt very developed in teh sense of tourism - what you see is what you get. A few nice hotels etc and the rest is real coastal Ecuador. I think you will enjoy Manta - and Montanita is totally different again. A real surfers destination.
Enjoy
