Paraguay
lies on both banks of the Paraguay River, bordering Argentina to the
south and southwest, Brazil to the northeast, and Bolivia to the
northwest. The River Paraguay runs roughly north to south through the
middle of the country, dividing it into two regions. The east is
covered by dense forest, rivers and waterfalls. West of the Paraguay
River is the Chaco, a great wilderness marshland with much tropical
flora.

Colombia
and Ecuador are to the north, Brazil and Bolivia to the east, and
Chile to the south. Peru ranks amongst the world's great centers of
ancient civilization. The Inca civilization, one of the last
significant pre-Columbian cultures, had its center in Peru. You can
wander around colonial cities that have preserved the legacy of the
Spanish conquistadors, visit the ancient Inca capital of Cuzco,
explore the lost city of Machu Picchu and ponder the enigma of the
Nazca Lines.

Suriname
is a small country that borders on French Guiana, Guyana and Brazil.
Suriname is covered by large areas of biological diverse, tropical
forest with some areas of savanna. The capital of Paramaribo is an
easy going place. There are a few sights, dating back to colonial
times, there are a few nice markets and some good nightlife. |

Uruguay
is bordered by Brazil to the north, the Uruguay River to the west, the
estuary of the Rio de la Plata to the southwest, with Argentina on the
other bank of both, and finally the South Atlantic Ocean to the
southeast. The most popular Uruguayan destination is Punta del este,
with the Atlantic on one side and the River Plate on the other. |

Venezuela
is bordered by Colombia to the west, Guyana to the east, and Brazil to
the south. The capital city of Caracas is a busy place and there are
always things going on there. The beach resort of Margarita Island is
popular with people looking for a place to relax and get a tan. Angel
