ust returned from ecuador where spent 5 days at Sani lodge in the rain forest, and would recomend it heartily. It is a community based lodge far down the Napo on a pristine ox bow lake. The price is a bargain compared to other lodges and the accomodations are great, as is the food. The lodge is also a bit smaller than the other lodges which we found very comfortable. All profits go back to the community. Domingo, our community guide was as good a bird guide as you can find and his knowledge of the flora and fauna was as extensive. We liked Sani because of what the community was trying to do on its own without outside owners. Bring camera, binocs, rain parka and a desire for a great jungle experience. The problem with the stay was that it was a bit too short.
