The Cuyabeno Wildlife Reserve lies in the northeastern corner of Ecuador’s Amazon rainforest. It is a biodiversity hotspot, home to one of the world’s greatest concentrations of distinct animal and plant species.
The Cuyabeno Reserve has more than 520 different species of birds; 60 species of orchids; over 350 species of fish; a big variety of reptiles such as anacondas, caimans and river turtles. As well as the 12,000 estimated species of plant found within the reserve.
When Grand Cuyabeno Lake Lodge started operating in 1988, the owners believed that the rainforest traveler should be hosted in conditions, which would be both in harmony with the surrounding environment and attuned to the needs of the modern visitor.
The lodge this one composed of 7 independent cabins, each one with two double rooms with private bathroom and hot water. The cabins are constructed in wood and have thatched roofs.
Facilities include a dining-room and a bar. The Lodge can accommodate twenty-eight guests in double rooms but this capacity can be augmented upon request.
