Hi,
I am travelling to Ecuador this summer, and i will be staying 3 mounths in Loja to do research on a plantation. I was wondering if it is possible to rent a place in Loja city for this period, or it would be better to stay in a cheap geusthouse or something like that?
Mayby someone can also give me some info about the region, because there is not much written in travel books. Is it a eautiful city, is the region safe, things to see and to do ...?
Thanks a lot. |

Hi,
We stayed at a hostel, Casa Lojana which you can find by google. Much different than a hotel, but you can get single rooms if you like. My whole family stayed there, age ranges from 14 - 50 and we all had a great time. Very friendly staff, good food and a great view from the roof, located in the historic section of town. You should check it out on the internet, it may be just the thing.
Loja represents the best of Ecuador and is a welcome jaunt off the familiar tourist trail. The Province of Loja offers a unique combination of paramo, cloud forest, and jungle. Moreover, Loja's capital city of the same name and the area's natural wonders remain unsullied and largely undiscovered by travelers because they are tucked away in the southern most portion of the country. |
