La Selva or Napo? Amazon basin lodges Ecuador. Mostly with respect to
birding. |

We went to La Selva a couple of years ago for the 5 night package.
Absolutely loved it. Saw lots of birds as well as other animals. The lodge is well off the main Napo River and so is quite quiet, making the wildlife viewing better I would assume, than those closer to "civilisation". We happened to be there in a week that was between two large groups that had booked the lodge and had the good fortune to have the lodge almost to ourselves. We had a native guide and a biologist(English-speaking from Texas on a research project from his university) all to ourselves ( 2 of us). We had picked la Selva based on recommendations by members of the South American Explorers Club and because it had more flexibility in planning daily excursions-you could more or less tailor them to your particular interests. as a bonus the food was excellent-amazing what the cooks could produce in the middle of nowhere-and the cabins were very comfortable. We wouldn't hesitate to recommend it.
Enjoy your trip! |
