Hello,
I am visiting Ecuador in May, and will be flying to the Galapagos but we are not going on a cruise since they are way too expensive for our budgets. Any recommendations on where to stay- we dont want to pay an inordinate amount of money but we dont want a really crappy place either?
Are there young people around on Isla Santa Cruz, or are visitors mostly older? Are there locals or mostly tourists? What types of activities are there for people who don't go on boat cruises? Is there a night life there? Any answers anyone can provide would be greatly appreciated!!!!! |

Our boat stopped in Santa Cruz (Puerto Ayora) . Its a small town with a few bars for the locals. (pop 10,000) Not bad for an evening. There is the Chas Darwin rsch ctr where you can see the Giant Tortoise, but its a bit zoo like.
You reall ought to go on a cruise, even for a few days. I think there might be the pos of day trips to other islands.
If you want to see the (VERY tame) Blue footed b00bies, frigate birds and sealions, you'll have to go by boat. It is fantastic. (TA objected (profanity) to the proper spelling of b00bies! |
