What is my best option to get to Cuenca from Quito, with stops in Banos and other interesting places? I have 3-4 days for the trip. What is your take on renting a car?
Any must-see places enroute? Should I plan on more time in Banos than Cuenca?
Is the tourist train down "Nariz" worthwhile? Is there a bus from the end of the line (Analusa?) to Cuenca?
Thanks and happy trails! |

Hi there,
I think that the best way to travel in this area is definitely the bus. Bus service in Ecuador are cheap, extensive and easy to use.
Personally I would spend more tine in Banos then Cuenca. Although Cuenca is a really beautifull city, I found activities are more numerous from Banos and the city itself although small has a fun vibe⦠The Nariz Train is fun and if you use bus as transportation it will better than car since you wont have to return to Riobamba to get your car, you can just grab a bus from Alausi |
