I am looking for recomendations for good Spanish schools in Ecuador. Currently in Quito - the schools that I have visited range from $4-$9 per hour. This is a huge varience and it is difficult to tell which is best. Please let me know where to go in Quito and in other cities if your experience was better. Nine dollars seems high is it really worth it?
Thanks for taking the time. |

Instead of asking for a good school, you need to ask for a personal recommendation for a good teacher. I'd then contact that school and ask if he or she is available. In my last trip to Ecuador, I attended a highly recommended school and got stuck with two of the worest teachers ever. Both were totally unorganized and poorly trained.
Since you're in Quito, I can't give a personal recommendation, but I've heard good things about this teacher. She's listed on South American Explorers Club's website and her cost is $6.00 per hour: Mariana Gonzalez
If you can get to Cuenca and your goal is to improve your conversational skills, I can personally recommend the Abraham Lincoln Center (a/k/a, Centro Cultural Ecuatoriano Norte Americano) if you can get Enrique or Raul as your teacher. The cost was $6.00 per hour. |

I can recommend Berraca - cost $4.25 per hour and is found on the main Amazonas street in new town. No need to organise in advance - just rockup there and see what you think.
At the end of the day in whichever school you choose I guess it all depends on which teacher you get - I got lucky! |
