I am thinking about going to Quito during the week between Christmas and New Year's, is there a decent nightlife there?

as compared to what? I moved here from Manhattan, and the nightlife, as you would expect, isn't quite up to par. But there are plenty of bars, nightclubs and salsa bars, Thu-Sat are big nights, but you can go out for a drink and find folks at bars in the Mariscal basically any night of the week, and especially around New Year's.
