I am having trouble deciding between Coca and Tena for a jungle trip while in Ecuador, given that I will have about 3-4 days to do it in. Can anyone with Ecuador experience tell me which of the two has the best overall jungle experience?

Also, do most outfits provide rubber boots etc?

Gracias.

Hola,

I can't say much about Tena, but Coca is a good place for a jungle excursion. I went to La Selva lodge, and it was absolutely fab! The guide really knew his stuff, the food was great and the staff were very friendly. It is a pricier lodge, but worth it. Probably about $500 for 4D/3N. There are other lodges around there as well, but I found most of the lodges in this area were located deeper in the jungle than those offered in Tena, but Tena might be cheaper.

Most lodges will provide rubber boots.

Have fun in the jungle...it's awesome!

I did my jungle tour from Tena when I was in Ecuador and I really enjoyed it. I got a 3 day/2 night jungle and river tour for just over $130 US. Great people (though none had a very good working knowledge of English), decent food, rubber boots provided etc. However, most of the wildlife we saw was through a tour of an animal refuge we went to and not in the actual jungle as we weren't that deep into the jungle. The deeper you go the more interesting things you're going to see, but I still had an awesome time on my tour.
