Hi everyone,
i have just settled in quito for a year. Does anyone know if it is possible to set up an internet connection to ones apartment? DSL, dial-up, etc? Are there companies that do it? What is the approximate cost. Any help , information will be greatly appreciated.

Hey,
Check out a company called Punto.net. They have prepaid monthly programs for dial up.
punto-net It's not the cheapest but reliable service. Usual you need permission from the landlord or person who owns the phone line to set up Internet service. Keep in mind though that they charge per minute in Quito to use the phone. So make sure you clear it up with you landlord to let them know that you'll be using Internet. Otherwise you may be surprised by the phone bill you receive at the end of the month.
If you want to do high speed, you could do it through Andinanet andinanet but again you'll need permission from your landlord. It will cost you about $180 US to set up which includes 1 month of service. I currently have it and it's not that fast compared to the connection in Canada but it does the job.
Good luck!
Hope this helps. |
