My husband and I are bringing 5 friends to Ecuador in December. We have everything figured out except where we want to spend New Years. We do know that we want to be at the beach.

We thought of Same since we know it, but it is so damn touristy and gross now. Or maybe Montanita.

Any suggestions of a nice beach to relax on for the New Years?

I've only been to Casablanca (Sua) and Puerto Lopez. I've heard the same things as Funnychap about Montanita, so if you're under 30 and a big partier and surfer, it could be great. Otherwise, you might want to find someplace else. I think someplace like salinas would be a better choice...
