hi,
I was there at the end of July without any trouble at all, but I've heard there have been more erruptions since - not sure if this is true or not though... although we were there when people were still advising against travel, the place was like a ghost town, but it was fine, in fact our taxi driver said that banos has not been affected, there's been no evacuation, and that its another town that had problems. We stayed in a lovely hostel, can't remember the name of it at all i'm afraid, but if you go to the church, and walk about 2 blocks up with the church behind you, its a white hostal on the corner with a roof terrace cafe etc. There are TONS of hotels and hostels though, so I'm sure you won't have a problem finding anywhere, just ask to see the room before you check in. |
