Hello,

My wife and I are looking at spending about 3 weeks in the Galapagos Islands. We would like to sample a bit of everything, the islands the wildlife, the environments, the food, the hotels, the sea/diving. Does anyone have any recommendations on how to put a holdiay like this together. I know that you can do cruises for 8 days etc but how can I book ahead the rest of the time there. Finally, I know all the islands are unmissable but is there any single thing which one should see there before they die?

Thanks,

Hi,

3 weeks in the galapagos...........what a time you'll have!!!

My Advice would be to arrange a tour (cruise) and delay your return flight from the Islands.
What I don't know is when your thinking of going and if you are booking from home or will you be getting a last minute deal in Ecuador!!

Your cruise will most likely start and end from Sant Cruz Island.
When it ends you can stay in a hotel or hostel depending on your budget.

The next day take a water taxi (30.00usd, takes 2 hours) to Isabela island. Stay a few days there its great.
There are 3 islands that are inhabited (4 actually but it difficult to get to, and only a hand full of people live there) Isabela, Santa Cruz and San Cristobel. Each can be reached by water taxi or by a small 9 seater plane.

The rest of the islands (or most of them) can only be seen by a pre-arranged tour.
Most places on the Galapagos can only be visited with a national park guide.
Remember you need 100.00usd in CASH upon arrival for the park fee.
