Hi all
I have a trip to the Galapagos booked for the 26th November and have the option of flying there from either Quito or Guayaquil. I land in Quito on 21st November and am unsure as to whether I should spend the 5 nights all in Quito or to travel down to Guayaquil taking in the sights on my way.
Would 5 nights in Quito be too much and would I be missing out if I was to stay around that area?? I would appreciate any advice.......
Many thanks |

There's really so much to see in Ecuador, I'd recommend not rushing down south but instead taking advantage of all that there is to see and do in and around Quito. My suggestions are:
1) Quito old and new town. The teleferico to the top of mount Pichincha. The mirador de Guápulo for great views of the valley.
2) El mitad del mundo, especially the museum Intiñan (round the back of the main "Mitad del Mundo complex").
2) The thermal baths at Papallacta, go on a weekday if you can.
3) Otovalo and its markets
4) Quilotoa (a longer day trip from Quito but well worth it)
5) Cotopaxi
Enjoy! |

Though Ecudaor is a small country, there is so many things to see. If you only have 5 days, better stay in quito and around rather than go south. Agreed with #3. u can visit
1) quito old and new town
2) el mitad del mundo. The ethnographic musem inside the complex is great.
3) otavalo market (Saturday). don't miss the animal market there.
4) Saquisili market (thursday)
5) Cotopaxi day trip |
