Hi,
We fly into Guayaquill about 11 pm and leave for the Galapagos early the next morning so we are looking for a cheap place somewhat near the airport to lay our heads for a few hours. No frills needed; just a matress and a pillow would be perfect. (Maybe a pillow is a frill Also, do you know if the places offer airport pickup?
Thanks! |

Was just up in Guaquil a few months back, and stayed in Hotel Alexander for just under US $25 per night. The room was clean and quiet, and there is a restaurant attached (but only ate breakfasts there). The hotel itself is modern and secure, but the area is a bit run-down. However it is just 2 blocks from Av. 9 de Octubre, which is one of the main streets downtown. You won't have any trouble finding a taxi who knows where it is.
Also, the Malecon 2000, which is a new river-front park, and the stairs up to the lighthouse, are very much worth seeing. Highly secure area, with at least 1 police every few 100 mts. All in all, GYE was a much better city than I expected after reading some of the posts on this site. |
