I spent 10 days there because i had friends to stay with and even that was too long - i take it you're there on business because Guayaquil is hardly a tourist attraction in itself! As #2 said, the Malecon and Las Penas is nice but the city centre is a bit of a shithole and when i stayed in a hotel in the centre i was told it's too dangerous to go out at night.
Positives - well, the most beautiful girl i ever met is from Guayaquil. But she lived in Urdesa in the suburbs which was pretty nice. Montanita is 3 hours away if you're up for a party! Oh yeah and it's always interesting looking at the previous days' murder victims on the front page of the local tabloids.
Best make some friends, the people are pretty friendly.... |

The waterfront area (Malecon) is nice and Las Penas up to the lighthouse is nice.
We stayed at Dreamkapture hostel.
Really only a couple of days worth at most and mainly a stop over for the Galapagos flights. |
