Hi
Im going to be at Galapogas in Feb/March time and wanting to know the cheapest way to do it. Would I be better off flying there and then sorting out a cruise (about a week) or would I be better off booking it from the mainland. Cos its going to be out of season id heard you can bargain out there for a cheaper cruise. Any advise much appreciated thanks!!! |

We winged it.
Got a plane from Guayaquil at less that 24 hours notice (note we changed the date of the return for free at TAME in the Galapagos)
Went to Moonrise travel (who we found very professional) and had a choice of only two decent (i.e. not the Free Enterprise) boats and took one which left 3 days later.
It was the same price as the ones who booked in advance.
It seemed as if the real deals were only on the expensive boats - so the deal was still not cheap - or if you lef tit so late you risked missing out.
If time is not an issue this would be fine as there is lots to do at Puerto Ayoao and Isabela Island etc.
If time is an issue this is a risk.
And, finally, we did 7 nights on the Merak for $1080 each. |
