We are planning to go to Ecuador in November and want to go to Galapagos Islands without paying a fortune. Is it cheaper to book in Quito and is it possible? Can you fly out there and then try to join a boat ?

Any information most welcome.

You will find plenty of tourist agencies in Quito that offer Galapagos tours. Whether they can arrange a trip within a few days or not I don't know. It will not be cheap as all boats have to carry a guide, but don't let that stop you. If you live in England, you may find that one of the offers from The Travel Collection or Voyage Jules Verne will work out cheaper.
