My friend and I are going to the galapagos in November. She uses a wheelchair to get around but can walk short distances and climb in and out of her chair on her own. She is an adult, but a small person and for example can't climb up stairs easily. Although she is an adventurous traveller we are wondering if the Galapagos are going to be possible since I understand some landings are "dry" and some are straight into the water from the boat. I'm sure it depends on the type of boat and how much we are willing to pay for guides/facilities. But I'd be interested if anyone else has travelled to the Galapagos in a wheel chair or with someone in a wheelchair? Are all the paths on the islands rocky or are some paved/boardwalks? Would you recommend any particular companies who would be flexible enough to deal with us?
Thanks. |

| I suggest you contact Safari tours in Quito. Jean, the English woman who runs the agency, has been there 12 years and knows everyone. If there is a best way to travel to the Galapagos on a wheel chair, she would be a great place tos tart collecting info. |
