| I will be in Quito late Friday, December 14th. I want to take a day trip to Otavalo and back. How can I arrange transportation to and from my hotel and how much? Also nearby shuttle buses from Hotel Dann Carlton in Quito. I don't care about a tour, just transportation bothways. |

| The last time I went to Ecuador (May 2006), I went to Quito and easily took public transportation to Otavalo to go nuts on the Saturday shopping. The bus was cheap and I plan to go again this coming August. Ask at your hotel about getting to the bus station or wherever you could find a bus going to downtown Otavalo. Make sure you leave Quito early (7AM-ish) to get to the market before the shops close around 3PM-ish. I wouldn't know of any tour...sounds odd since it's just a huge open market and not much else. (I've been to Ecuador several times after my year long study abroad program in Guayaquil in 1995-1996.) Any other questions, write again! If not, buen viaje! |
