Hi,
we're going on a trip to Peru and Ecuador from mid-december to mid-january. At the end of the trip we plan to climb Mt. Cotopaxi in Ecuador. Searching this forum I found some recommendations about guides (still open for new ones!), but no details about equipment hire. On the upper icy slopes I think you will need an ice axe and crampons and for security reasons an harnish and a rope. Do these guides or their companies hire such equipment?
Thanks for tips. |

Hi there
you need crampons, iceaxe, harness and a rope. In fact you need all that as soon you hit the snow. And yes, every tour company can offer you the gear. All that gear does the job but it is not high quality. Especially some of the weather gear looks not that good. I do not wanna know how warm those gloves are if it is very cold at the summit!?
Enjoy your climb. Try do to it on Sunday night. Not that many people. |
