I'm planning to fly to Ecuador in Feb. and wanting to photograph people and culture. Last year I had problems with the altitude in Peru and it took me a while to acclimitize. Can someone tell me some interesting places to visit that are not as high as Quito so I can slowly acclimitize. I don't want to take a yellow fever shot so the jungle may not be my best option.

Quito is about 2800m above sea level... considerably lower than, say, Cuzco, so I think you are unlikely to have many problems there. Nevertheless, Banos is worth a visit and at about 1800m, may be a good choice. It's 4 hours bus journey from Quito and is a quiet little town, popular with tourists, and good for hiking, cycling, hot springs, waterfalls, general relaxing.
