Hi,

I'm wondering if anyone knows if there are any international high schools in Cuenca? My husband and I are considering moving there in a year or 2 and we need to find a school for our daughter (she'll be 15 or 16 by the time we get there). My husband works in Ecuador and I've been there several times so we're well familiar with the country (just not the education system!).

Any info would be greatly appreciated.

I can't answer your question, but a good source in Cuenca to contact is the Abraham Lincoln Center. I took Spanish lessons there, but it's primary mission is to teach English to local children so it won't be suitable for your daughter.

They should, however, be able to help you with the information that you need. The director is Richard Boroto. The administrator is Alicia. I believe Alicia has children who are school age. If you call, Alicia will probably be the person who will probably be the most helpful. Their phone number is 282-3898.

There are a couple of websites for the Abraham Lincoln Center, but they aren't updated or maintained. Corresponding with them through e-mail is a little iffy so I recommend that you call. However, don't call between noon and 2:00 pm since they're closed for lunch.
