Hi,
We have around 1400 dollars each after the flight and tax, but are unsure whether its best to stay on the boat for a week or get off each day etc. Also does anyone have any good/bad experiences to help us choose a decent boat etc.
Finally do we need to take malaria tablets for the Galapagos?
A final thought, we have already got our flight booked so will be booking it over there.
Thanks for any help |

If you stay on the boat, you get to travel much farther and have more time on land and snorkelling, as the boat can travel during the night and while you are having meals. Be careful booking your trip, make sure you know exactly what you are getting. We met a family who thought they were doing one dive a day and land trips, but in fact it was a dive trip that didnt touch land for 5 days. And a woman who thought she was booking an organised 5 day trip, but in fact ended up in a hotel in Puerto Ayora, and the agent just put her on whatever day trips were available at the time
You dont need any malaria medication.
There doesnt seem to be as many last minute options as a few years ago, but if you have a few days to spare, you may be able to find something there. But Im no expert, as we booked in advance |

When I went to the Galapagos, I sailed aboard a dive boat (the Daphne). We mainly did two dives in the mornings and spent the afternoons doing land tours of the various islands. To my mind, you get the best of both worlds that way. I have published a web-based travel page you can take a look at to get a better idea.
Enjoy your trip! |
