Hi Everyone,
My name is Felicia and I am a current college student. I decided to spend next semester on a abroad program in Guayaquil! I am very excited about my trip, but have been a getting a little nervous now that it is getting closer to my departue. I heard that the weather is not to good around the time I will be going and I also heard mixed reviews on what the environment (people, city) is like there. PLEASE help! Any advise will be great! Thanks soo much.

Guayaquil is a big city, the east side of the river is relatively undeveloped, but the west side has skyscrapers, parks and colorful neighborhoods.
For Ecuador, the crime rate is high, but overall it is a safe country.
I wouldn't worry too much.
I'll be in Ecuador from December to March. I've been to Guyaquil once before, but you'll likely be an expert on the city by the time I pass through there again.
