Anyone done an Ecuadorian Amazon adventure? Looking for recommendations on a trek through the Amazon out of Ecuador this August/September, and anyone who would like to join in. Anybody gone down the Napo? Looking to hike/camp & canoe/kayak, but open to any suggestions.

I went on a 6 day jungle trip from Misahualli (near Tena). We were 2 persons and 2 guides (and the son of one of the guides). We slept in tent and the guides cooked food for us on a bonfire. We walked in the jungle for some days and then floated down the river on rafts made from balsa-wood. Then we stayed at two indian families, that our guides knew. The last day we walked back to a road, caught a bus, and then boat and returned to Misahualli.
We wanted a basic trip, and it was all great. We paid 30 dollars a person pr. day, all inclusive. The shorter trips are cheaper, our trip normally costed 45 pr person pr day as we were a group of only 2 persons, but we got a special price. I think if you go for 2-3 days you will be in bigger groups, but this trip was made for us. We did this trip in May. |
