I was told that the Cuyabeno Jungle will be so hot and humid, that I'll only want to take a cold shower and that I shouldn't be concerned that there isn't any hot water. Does anyone second this opinion? I'll be going the first week in October.
Also anyone stayed at the Samona Lodge or used Happy Gringo? |

Cuyabeno is great. It's a bit humid yes... but I expected it to be much hotter actually. We had cold showers in our Jungle Lodge which were absolutely fine!! The weathers hot enough for it to be fine!! ... and if there isn't enough water you can always swim in the river which is GREAT!!!!
enjoy your trip |

It IS humid, very humid, but a cold shower is still a cold shower. If you need hot water and comforts, maybe in reality the Amazon rainforest is not the place to go. You spend a lot of your time being hot, sweaty, muddy and smelly. To me, that is part of the appeal. I loved the Cuyabeno but some would rather stay in cities. That's fine; it's just a matter of preferences.
For me, I loved the Cuyabeno Reserve and think the monkeys, birds, incredible plants, night sounds, etc are well worth cold showers, humid conditions and mud. But that's just me. I'd rather be there than in a city, any day. |
