Hey I'm off to Ecuador in a week or so and have just checked the UK foreign office website that says travel to the Banos area is now against the FCO's advice. I was just wondering if anyone has been to Ecuador recently and can tell me what the situation is? Thought I would stay away from Banos but had been keen to do an Amazon trek from Puyo (60k down the road from Banos). Is that still possible?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

| I was in Riobamba and Banos about 2-3 weeks ago. There was no problem at all with regards to disruption due to the eruption. The Devils Nose Railway is still running. A lot of people have been asking along our route whether its ok, but i think its more a case of people talking about whether there is a problem there, than there actually being a problem. |
