I will be traveling to Ecuador next week. First a couple of days in Quito and then to a friends spa in vilcabamba. I've been told to bring cash. Small bills, because they won't or can not make change. I was also told they charge 10% extra if you use a charge card.
Can anyone tell me if this is true? |

| Hola Hadiya. Don't know if you've left already but I suggest you bring lots of small bills (10s, 5s, and 1s). Ecuador uses both US coins and its own coins. US paper dollar bills is what they use as well. Some places are able to charge a percentage if you use a card. I didn't use my card at all since I brought plenty of dollars & coins. Oh, and many places won't accept any bill over a 20. |
