The Cuyabeno Reserve has a lot of trip options and is not all that difficult to reach from Quito. You fly to Lago Agrio, then drive through jungle towns to the reserve. From there it is a boat ride into primary rainforest. You should see monkeys, many birds and some of the most incredible plant life on earth.
We went with Tapir Lodge and had a nice trip. They offer a 5-day trip that includes plenty of rainforest hikes, canoeing, a visit to an indigenous community and pirahna fishing. The lodge is nice and the sounds at night are just incredible.
Have fun. |

I agree with going to Cuyabeno Reserve, we had an excellent time there.
You can take a 13 hour bus ride or a flight to Lagio Agrio for very cheap...and only 45 mintues flight time.
We stayed at the Jamu lodge you can book out of Quito great food, good times. Our guide was awesome (Edison), and the support staff were a ton of fun.
We saw fresh water dolphins, tons of monkeys, caymans, pirhanna etc.
Our trip was 4 days. |
