| I've been offered a teaching position for the summer at a small English school in Banos, Ecuador...other than reading about it in my LP bk, what's been your experience? what work do the people do? are they very poor? any movie theatres? buses? taxis? how much would a casita cost for a month? nearest swimming possibilities? are there pools in the city? |

I can answer a few of your questions, but not all:
I liked Banos, scenery is great, but volcano next to it is a little too active for my taste.
a whooole lot of Banos people are employed in relation to tourism. This is sort of a tourist/backpacker central south of Quito (within Ecuador), since it is on the way to the rain forest (from the main road through Ecuador), and also not far from tourist spots like Riobamba and Cuenca.
So therefore, the bus central is very active, with buses going south towards Riobamba, east towards la selva (jungle) and north towards Quito. Taxis are also available.
Banos means "the baths" in Spanish, because of all the hot springs. There are many pools and also a few swimming pools (about 75 feet long ones). As for the rest of your questions, I do not have any answer.
