Sacha lodge is incredible. It is quite deep into the jungle (2.5hours by motorized canoe from Coca, and then another 45 mintues hike, and a 30 minute canoe ride from there). The cabins, on the other hand, are surprisingly accomodating, have 24 hour electricity, and the food is actually great! But its the guiding that makes this place amazing - you won't believe the wildlife you will see. This is a full service jungle lodge, you won't be disappointed.

As for ocean temp...

I stayed in the La Selva Lodge, not far off from the excellent Sacha Lodge mentioned by the previous poster. It is situated in a beautiful oxbow lake, had birdwatching tower, butterfly farm, trails in the jungle, kayaks to go off and explore on your own, a really high class restaurant (considering it's in the middle of the jungle) and a lot more. I would highly recommend this place to anyone. For further info check out www.laselvajunglelodge.com/

About the sea temp in july, I guess it it the time when it starts getting a bit cooler. I have been there in September when it is definitely at its coldest and I had a great time, so don't worry at all - just go for it. July will be much better.

Happy travels!
